Fight Club Challenge round 5
fall 2023
September 27 - December 04
Why Fight Club Challenge?
It’s no secret that the disappearance of the Man is a cultural epidemic, affecting our homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. Unfortunately, this is true even in the church. And despite the best efforts of church leaders to turn this around, they still fall short of reaching men. Is it possible that a big part of the problem is that men aren’t being challenged to believe that God has more for them than what they’ve obviously settled for? In other words, men long to be challenged to be more, and to have more impact than they could ever imagine having in this life on this planet! Men hunger to make a difference! What challenges, opportunities, and vision have you ever heard cast for men other than “love your wives and kids, read the Bible and tithe every week, and maybe you can be an usher or a deacon someday.” The point is that men hunger to be challenged and equipped to go to war against the forces of darkness. They hunger to know that they can be world-changing, culture-building, strong men of God who know and believe that God has called them to make an eternal difference inside and outside their homes, churches, and communities. And in order to get our men to this crisis point of active faith, we need to implement three indispensable masculine ingredients: CAMARADERIE. COMPETITION. CHALLENGE.
These masculine “drivers” run in our blood. From boyhood, this is our native language. Every man intrinsically “gets” these, and the Fight Club Challenge employs these “drivers” to accomplish our mission to:
Awaken Christian men from mediocrity, strengthen them emotionally, intellectually, physically and spiritually, resurrect true masculine community and mobilize them for maximum impact in their families, churches and communities.
Running the Race
Why do we call the Fight Club Challenge an 8 week race? We believe that many Men have been running the wrong race in life. Our goal during the Fight Club Challenge will be to challenge men to run a new race. Taking a deep look into the Word, and defining what a Man is will be our focus as we lead Men through the 8 week race. Society has skewed mens views of who they are and what they are called to do. It will be our mission to help these men understand what a “Man of God” looks like through the lens of scripture while they learn to do life with other men in the context of true authentic community.
Paul says it best in 1 Corinthians 9: 24-27:
Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadow boxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.
Our aim is to give men purpose and understanding of what race they are running and what race God has called us to run. We will challenge men to run this 8-week race with us looking forward to a prize that does not fade. It is time for men to get off the sidelines and step into the arena.
What is the Fight Club Challenge?
The Fight Club Challenge is a 8-week race where men are required to complete weekly challenges within the context of community and accountability. Men will be required to attend the Kickoff night and participate in small group gatherings (SQUADS) every Wednesday night for the 8 week race. Assignments and challenges change weekly and cover spiritual, relational, intellectual and physical growth areas, along with Scripture memory and many opportunities to try something new, sometimes intimidating, sometimes just-for-fun. A 3-strike rule applies to all challenges and group meetings.
As a precursor to any weekly assignments and challenges, men who join are asked to sign the Fight Club Covenant and commit to living by the Fight Club Guidelines.

After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the officials, the nobles, and the rest of the people, “Do not be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
