Deacon Nomination

Qualifications

• A layman shall be at least 21 years of age and be a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff for one year and a Christian for three years to be eligible for selection as a deacon.

• He shall meet the qualifications noted in 1 Timothy 3:8-13 and Acts 6:3

Responsibilities

• In accordance with the meaning of the work and practice of the New Testament, deacons are to be servants of the church. Their task is to serve with the Pastor and staff in performing the pastoral ministries tasks of:

  • Caring for widows.

  • Implementation of the Lord’s Supper.

  • Serving the church in the achievement of its mission.

  • Proclaiming the gospel to believers and unbelievers.

  • Caring for the church’s members and other persons in the community.
