Romans 8:1-4

1. Review

Go around the room and ask: What have you heard from God this week? What scripture did you read this week that was meaningful to you? How did you see God at work around you?

The idea of rescue is powerful. How have you felt the power of being rescued in life? Tell us about that.

Romans 8:1 says "There is therefore, now NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus." Do you remember when the condemnation fell away from your life? What did you experience in that moment? How has this truth impacted your life? What was the greatest release you felt?

2. Assess

Read Romans 8:1-4 Based on these verses, how would you explain the Gospel to someone who thinks they are not not "good enough" for God?

Today we learned, we no longer have to be controlled by sin. We have been set free from sin by the Spirits power. We also have the power to overcome sin. How have you seen sin be overcome in your life or someone else life? How is the struggle managed?

Sin found an impossible fortress in Jesus. Read Proverbs 18:10, How have you experienced this in your life? When did Jesus become more than part of your life, but he became your life? How has Jesus become your everything?

3. Apply

Based on Romans 8:1 there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. What are you still battling that can be left behind right now?

Read Galatians 5:16-18 Use this text to encourage the group to be given fully over to the Spirits power in life. Also, use this text to pray for one another.

What practical steps can you take tonight to find the freedom that is offered to you in Jesus?
